17.4.3 Education for SDGs in the wider community

Answer

Yes. Through its Office of Extension, Field Outreach and Alumni Relations and its departments, MMMUT runs educational outreach for people outside the university: school children of its adopted villages, students of government inter colleges, underprivileged children and village residents. In 2025 this included Padhe Vishwavidyalaya Badhe Vishwavidyalaya (7 March 2025), in which 328 school children from adopted villages took part, and a vaccination awareness camp in Mathia village (9 December 2025).

Education for the SDGs beyond the campus

Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur takes its teaching beyond its own students. The Associate Dean of Extension, Field Outreach and Alumni Relations works with the schools of the villages the university has adopted, and departments bring health, career and science education to schools and villages in Gorakhpur and Deoria. The activities below are recorded in the university's Annual Progress Reports; each is linked with its APR page as proof.

Why it matters

These activities carry the university's knowledge to people who are not its students: children in village schools learn about higher education and technology, senior secondary students get career guidance, and village families learn why vaccination protects them. In 2025 the university ran 6 such outreach activities in Gorakhpur and Deoria districts.
